Seller's Open House Preparation
Checklist |
Exterior:

Driveway clear of toys, garden hoses, vehicles,
etc. |

Lawn freshly cut and trimmed.

Walkways are swept, washed or shoveled.
|
 |
Flower beds or gardens maintained. |
 |
Remove any unnecessary items or debris from the
yard. |

The front door should look sharp. Add a coat of
paint if necessary.

Interior:
 |
Cleanliness is imperative. Pay particular
attention to the kitchen & baths.
|
 |
All beds should be made.
|
 |
Remove & pack any small valuables, collectibles, or
easily broken items. |
 |
Lubricate sticky doors and drawers.
|
 |
Have the temperature in the house at a comfortable
level for the season. |
 |
Closets should be organized and tidy.
|
 |
Close toilet lids in bathrooms.
|
 |
Clothing and toys should be put away.
|
 |
All stairways should be clean and well-lit.
|
|
Staging:
 |
Open all the drapes.
|
 |
Turn on all the lights, including in the garage and
closets. Increase wattage in basement, if necessary.

Take all pets out of the house.
|
 |
Air should smell fresh and clean.
|
|
Making Magic:
 |
Light a fire in the fireplace.
|
 |
Spray vanilla scent on the entry door jamb.
|
 |
Place fresh flowers or potted plants throughout the
house. |
 |
Play soft music.
|
|
Consider Providing the Following:
 |
Beverages such as coffee, cider, or lemonade.
|
 |
A snack such as cookies or doughnuts. |
